Budapest bath visit

Gellért or Széchenyi Bath visit

No visit to Budapest is complete without a bath in one of its world-famous thermal spring spas. The ancient Romans had already discovered the healing effects of the thermal springs in the area. The bath culture however only started to develop during the Turkish times.

Since its construction in 1918, Gellert Spa is one of the most beautiful and prestigious thermal baths on the Buda side of the city. Gellert is famous for its main hall with a gallery and a glass roof, artistic mosaics, and numerous exquisite sculptures built in Art-Nouveau style.

While the Széchenyi bath is a large bath-complex located on the Pest side of the city, in the City Park. It was built in neo-Baroque style in 1913. It has been reconstructed many times and provides the most up-to-date services by now. It is very popular both among visitors and citizens.
